What is the difference between the Kruger National Park and the Private Reserves that lie adjacent:

The Kruger National Park is a state-supported national park, managed by SANParks.

The accommodation of SANParks is mainly made up of small 2- or 3-star rondawels (small, thatched round houses), are family friendly and attract the “crowds”.

In these areas many self-drive vehicles are on tarred roads (not allowed to turn off of those roads).

Any animal sightings could have between 5 to 15 vehicles around it (often not an ideal experience).

In the Private Reserves the safari lodges are a lot more exclusive (usually 4- or 5-star private lodges).

Most private safari lodges limit the number of guests per lodge to 10 to 14 maximum.

Within the private reserves 4×4 safari vehicles are able to drive anywhere off-road to seek out the best game viewing experiences.

Animal sightings are often restricted to 2 or 3 vehicles, making game viewing a real luxury and exclusive experience.

Yes, the private safari reserves and lodges are more expensive, but, unlike the National Parks accommodation, everything is normally included (accommodation, meals and safari activities).

Is Visit Kruger Park Safari Lodges in a Malaria Area?
